ALFA 147 SPORT Q2. FROM £16,950.

Its four-valve per cylinder engine uses the latest multijet pressure of 1400 bar, and is mated to a slick 6-speed gearbox. This delivers 0-62mph acceleration in just 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 129mph. The Q2 limited slip differential ensures that all that power gets transmitted to the road, and is allied to lowered sports suspension for superlative handling and roadholding. Inside, the Sport Q2 specification is further distinguished by items such as luxurious black leather sports seats with red contrast stitching, as well as the generous Sport specification of its stablemates.

The system is based on a Torsen mechanical-type limited slip differential. The job of this differential is to divide the torque between the driving wheels depending on the grip conditions. Combined with the front wishbone suspension, the system ensures particularly effective dynamic control of the vehicle and enhanced driving pleasure.

Limited slip differentials used to be the preserve of works race and rally teams. But when you choose the Alfa Romeo 1.9JTDM 16v, with its 150bhp and 305Nm of torque, you will relish the extra stability, safety and confidence delivered by the advanced Q2 system.
